The Mahabharata Quest by Christopher C. Doyle
When I used to read fairy tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one! There ought to be a book written about me, that there ought! And when I grow up, I'll write one—but I'm grown up now.- Lewis Carroll

I am always busy from time to time
But once I am left off the line
Boredoms got me feeling down
And my smiling face turns into a frown
it was a boring Sunday and everyone was having fun
I was wondering what I could do before the day was done
“I’ll try to do some cooking and maybe write a poem or two
But I have writers block and all I can cook is stew
Perhaps baking is the one and I haven’t baked in quite a while,
But I can’t even bake a cake and my bread makes a person run a mile
Maybe I’ll make bracelets and make the cost high
Ill say that they are artisan and are imported from the sky
But that won’t work out either cuz I don’t want to lie”
This went on forever and then out came the moon
So, here’s a lesson for when you are bored
Decide what you want to do soon
For if you don’t then you will suffer
Believe me for I am not a bluffer
And when you decide then stick to your plan
instead of saying I cannot say I can.

Incorporating Indian Languages in English Medium Schools: Fostering Cultural Understanding and Communication
India's rich linguistic diversity, comprising over 22 recognized languages and 1600 dialects, stands as a testament to its cultural heritage. The integration of regional languages alongside English within English medium schools holds immense importance, ensuring cultural preservation while nurturing effective communication skills among students.
Preserving Cultural Identity
Regional languages serve as guardians of cultural traditions, literature, and oral histories, reinforcing students' connection to their roots and instilling pride in their heritage.
Enhancing Communication Skills
Proficiency in regional languages facilitates meaningful interaction and fosters cross-cultural understanding, essential in India's diverse society. However, this should not undermine the importance of English proficiency, crucial for global communication and opportunities.
Strengthening Learning Abilities
By offering classes in regional languages, schools acknowledge linguistic diversity, granting all students equitable access to quality education. This approach empowers students to excel academically while preserving their cultural identity.
Fostering Intercultural Understanding
Exposure to diverse cultural perspectives cultivates empathy and appreciation for India's rich cultural tapestry, preparing students for a globalized world. However, it's vital to maintain a balance, ensuring English proficiency alongside regional language acquisition.
Guidance for Stakeholders
Teachers: Seamlessly integrate regional languages into the curriculum while emphasizing the importance of English proficiency. Promote cultural exchanges and create inclusive learning environments that celebrate linguistic diversity.
Students: Actively engage in language learning, embracing both English and regional languages. Participate in cultural activities to broaden understanding and appreciation of diverse traditions.
Parents: Encourage children to cherish their linguistic heritage while recognizing the significance of English as a global language. Support language learning initiatives that maintain a balance between regional and English language proficiency.
In essence, the integration of Indian languages alongside English in English medium schools enriches educational experiences, fosters inclusive communities, and prepares students to navigate a diverse and interconnected world without compromising English proficiency.
